NAEYC Accreditation
NAEYC accreditation means an early childhood program has voluntarily met rigorous, research-based national standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Often considered the “gold standard” in early childhood education, it proves a center goes far beyond basic state licensing to provide top-tier care, well-trained teachers and staff, and developmentally appropriate learning.
Emphasis on Nature
Outdoor play is important for any age, but particularly in early childhood. We have multiple outdoor play areas, a garden where children grow and harvest plants, and an outdoor classroom.
Research shows that children need connections with the natural world as a regular part of their healthy growth and development. Daily interaction with the natural elements has a positive effect on their intellectual, physical, and social emotional growth.
Our Physical Space
At South Windsor Child Development Center, we strive to create a comfortable, secure, natural atmosphere. Our spacious, classrooms include cozy book areas for reading and resting, and picture windows provide abundant natural light. Each classroom has its own bathroom area with child sized toilets and vanities.
In addition to bright and welcoming classrooms, our center houses a large indoor area with tricycles, climbing apparatus, and tumbling mats for use on days when the weather does not allow for outdoor play.
